Chobe, the Okavango and the world’s greatest elephant concentrations
Why Botswana
Botswana is one of Africa’s great safari destinations — politically stable, prosperous, and committed to high-value low-volume tourism. It shares the Chobe River border with Zimbabwe just 80km from Victoria Falls, making it the natural first day-trip and extension for almost every Victoria Falls traveller.
The country’s crown jewel is the Okavango Delta — the world’s largest inland delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the Okavango River floods into the Kalahari creating a 15,000 sq km oasis of wildlife.
Chobe National Park, in the north, hosts the largest concentration of elephants on earth — estimated at 130,000 animals.
Botswana has the highest elephant population in the world — approximately 130,000 animals, roughly one third of Africa’s entire elephant population. Chobe National Park alone hosts up to 70,000.
